Sombrero

Went off, sans spaniel, in search of the Magpie Inkcaps from a couple of days ago. I found the spot but unfortunately the Inkcaps had already turned to mush. Instead I came across these. If there was any justice they would be called something like the 'purple sombrero fungi'. As it is I don't know what they are, althogugh I suspect some kind of waxcap.

The spaniel is unhappy at having to put his paw in a boot when he goes out. After a long struggle I got it on him and loaded him into the car. He was ominously quiet as we drove a couple of miles to one of our favourite spots. Opened the car and found he'd silently undone the velcro tabs and removed the boot. More struggling to get it back on and eventually we set off on our walk. All went well until he hurtled off after a rabbit and disappeared into the undergrowth. He reemerged some time later, without the boot. By now its dark, too dark to find a small black coloured boot in dense undergrowth. Search will resume tomorrow.
