I received a tub of German friendship cake mixture from a colleague and have spent the last ten days tending to and harvesting the yeasty stodge.

Today was the day he finally made his metamorphosis into a beautiful and delicious tasty treat.

Along with the general cakey mixture: cinnamon, apples, mixed spice, raisins, dates, dried apricots, pecan nuts, walnuts and orange zest. Topped with a sugar and orange juice glaze.

I had to make him in two tins because he was too much mixture for one. That means there's a cake for me and a cake to take to work on Monday!
