I think this may be a very old method of weighing ingredients for a sponge cake.
It's a fantastic way of allowing very young children to weigh their ingredients completely independently and the results are always good
You obviously need balance scales. You place the required number of eggs in one dish (3 for a basic sponge sandwich) and weigh firstly the sugar, the butter and then flour in the other.
