Sweet Child of Mine

It's for you

A lot of people have asked me how Elizabeth is getting on with her wee sister. Of course there was always a bit of a worry that she wouldn't be happy with all the changes, but she's been absolutely brilliant!

Elizabeth loves her little sister. Whenever she spots Rebecca she says "I want to say hello to Becca". When Rebecca is on my knee, Elizabeth will climb up onto my lap so that she can sit next to her to say "hello".

When Rebecca is on the baby gym, Elizabeth always lies next to her and gives her lots of cuddles (aka squashes her).

If Rebecca is asleep in her moses basket, Elizabeth wants to wake her, and (annoyingly) has on a few occasions.

If Rebecca is in her chair, then Elizabeth will kneel down next to her and talk to her, sing to her or rock her.

When we went to a playgroup yesterday and Rebecca woke. Elizabeth announced to the room "look everybody".

The only times there have been problems are when Elizabeth has wanted something and I'm busy feeding Rebecca and can't get it for her. But it's me she gets angry with then, not Rebecca.

It won't be until next Tuesday that I'll have a full day on my own with the girls. I'm going to have to be really organised with snacks and books and the remote control for the telly to keep Elizabeth occupied during feeds. Rebecca is a really hungry girl and is generally feeding about once an hour during the day. That'll all calm down after 6 weeks, but until then....

I am glad that Elizabeth is still going to the childminder 3 days a week. It is giving me time to recharge a little. A toddler is much more tiring to look after than a new born, that's for sure!
