First Snow

Snow.
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow.
Snow.
I want to wash my hands,my face, and hair with snow.
Bing Crosby-Danny Kaye...White Christmas

First snow of the year. One forecaster said 6-10 inches. According to where it came up to on my daschund...I'd say we got 3-4 inches. We shovel the dogs a nice 10 by 10 area to do their bidness. The chihauhau stays in it...the doxxy ventures out into the deep stuff. Hard to figure.

On my way to "work"...the driving was real nasty, but the snow sticking to all the bushes and trees was beautiful. Then it started warming up on its way to 40 degrees. The snow started falling out of the trees. It used to be a hard day to deliver mail. The beauty made you feel like you were in a magic land, but when it started falling...invariably you took 3 or 4 shots down the back of your neck. COLD!!

Somebody assumed I like the snow. I DON'T with a capital D. I never crossed downhill skiing off my bucket list, and now it scares me to try. Snowmobiles? The speed frightens me, and so do barbed-wire fences. Sledding? How do I tuck my feet in under my legs? Ice fishing? PLEASE!!!

There are 3 things I do like to do in the snow. 1. Nothing like creating a good snow angel...if you can get out of it. 2. I do like to strap on the cross-country skis once in a while...especially during a light snowstorm. The silence and the flakes are almost hypnotizing. 3. I do like to build a good snow fort. My daughter sent me a text today of my grandson in his first snow. It will be fun to build something with him.

I already have a plan for our first fort. The front yard...not the back. Nothing spoils a snow fort like a fresh pile of doggie doo.

The bottom right insert is some icicles. I can't believe we used to eat them.
