Berlin Illumnated

Berlin Illuminated is not a reference to the many Christmas lights now brightening up the streets of Berlin, it's the name of the show I went to see in Friedrichstadt Palast tonight (which apparently has the largest theatre stage in the world). It wasn't quite what I was expecting, I was hoping for more classic Christmas show tunes and cabaret style dance acts, instead of a lead singer that looked and sounded like he was a reject from the 80s, and some very dubious hard rock/ electronica dance sequences. But the rest of it was good fun, including the talking rabbit and the snow confetti that came down at the grand finale. The leading lady had a much better voice than her counterpart - and much better costumes, and with acts including reindeer dancing with Christmas trees, a whole circus ensemble, and an army of Santas doing the pelvic thrust, how can you not have fun?
