Orange Peel Fungus
Back in February we had a small heathland fire on the north facing slope of the common. An area of scrub - mainly gorse and birch - was burnt back to bare soil. I walked over that way this morning and found a huge patch, perhaps 100 square meters, that was covered in orange peel fungus of all sizes and stages. I've blipped OPF before but couldn't resist it again as its such a spectacularly colourful fungi especially when its growing up amongst the blackened remains of the gorse.
