The Legend of the Poinsettia.

This is the beautiful Christmas plant - the Poinsettia.

I've always loved these plants and buy one every year. I've also felt very proud of myself when I have managed to keep my Christmas Poinsettia alive throughout the year.

Do you know the Legend of the Poinsettia?

There is a lovely children's book ''The Legend of the Poinsettia'' by Tomie DePaola. It is a Mexican legend. There are various versions of the legend but I do like the book, as do the children I have read it to. It is a Christian/Nativity story.

The Poinsettia is also known as the ''Flowers of the Holy Night'' as well as other Mexican names.
