Orion
After I put Alana to bed I looked out and saw it was a clear sky so I thought I'd make an effort. I drove out of town hoping to get away from the light pollution but as you can see it's not so easy. I must have another go at some point, when I am truly away from those town lights. You can see Orion very clearly though. The three stars in the middle are his belt and the red star above and to the left is Betelgeuse (which I have heard pronounced various ways!) Betelgeuse is thought to be 640 light years away so the photons of light that hit my camera sensor tonight left the star 640 years ago. I like thoughts like that. Apparently some people think it could go supernova any time now. That would be amazing!
