Before the Cold

Yesterday the company helped me celebrate a long service with a long lunch. After the champagne, wine and an excellent steak we settled in front of the fire with (in my case) an excellent malt whisky.

The day grew dark and cold, and like Tam o' Shanter, I felt the need of a last drink to set me up for the road. So I had a last beer before setting out over the hills for the long dark lonely walk home.

As it turned out I was more fortunate than Tam o' Shanter, instead of an unreliable mare, my transport had many horses, and so I was conducted home without the fear of devils.
