Winter has arrived

After several weeks of unseasonably mild weather, winter has finally arrived. Today there was ice on the car and I spotted this first fire of winter. With the smoke curling up towards the pic de Pena, I thought it made a nice shot. This street is at 600 metres and the pic around 1000. It is a short but steep walk. They say that if you can do Pena in forty minutes, you can do Canigou (2700 metres - see previous blip) in a day. The signpost gives eleven hours there and back. That requires a good level of fitness. How the runners get there and back in the annual Canigou race in three to four hours beggars belief!
