Towards the church, Bakewell

The picture was taken just outside the Gospel Hall I regularly attend with my father.

Dad is a laryngectomee, having had his voice box removed last spring. He speaks through a valve, which can be a strain for speaker and hearers. However, he has persevered and in the afternoon spoke for the first time "officially" in a monthly service for older people from the town. It was so good to hear him contributing, and I think most people were able to catch most of the message.

Dad spoke of the assurance of faith, that we are not promised that trials and difficulties will be removed from our lives, but that we have a faithful Saviour who is with us through every step of way - plus a glorious and certain hope beyond the grave.

He also shared how he continues to enjoy travel by using the buses and trains around Derbyshire. He often returns delighted with the places he has visited and the views he has enjoyed on the way.

The short service was followed by a excellent tea together.
