Tug and Logboom

Whew, we got our son and family of 4 off this morning early in our boat to Montague so they could catch the ferry back to Seattle. Much rain but not bad wind at the moment.(that's always a pleasure) On the way back I snapped this photo of this tug with the hugely long logboom that has been parked in the Salish Sea to the north of us for 4 days now- waiting for better weather to go wherever he's going to go. They can only tow at about 1-2 knots and this is a huge boom. (you have to look closely, or biggify) This is how grey it was - we've had the lights of the tug shining every night since thanksgiving. That was the last picture I took today - we got home to sit and stare into space -or the fire- and enjoy a big latte and QUIET! The most I could do was put everything back on the shelves that Fiona took off so I can see the kitchen counters again-(to be fair, there are many open shelves totally unresistable to an almost 2 yo, but she still gets the prize for the most destruction and the most creativity getting into odd places of the 4 grandkids - either that or we're too old to remember the others...)
Spent the afternoon in the studio to absolute quiet trying to learn stuff on the computer - the wind is howling again outside but I can't hear it. :-) Didn't even take my walk. Will light a fire in the sauna in a while, have leftovers for dinner and watch a movie, to continue the 'recovery time." Of course I love that these kids love to come here - it's a wonderful place - but we are rather exhausted!

H is still hopeful he can figure out the exact perfect position for the antenna for the TV so he could get some news.. A work in progress. I think it's been lovely without it - we escaped all the black friday ads, although there wouldn't have been that much on Canadian TV since this thanksgiving holiday time is American. (but a blipper reminded me of that consumer nonsense that happens the day after. I'm sure there were Ca shoppers to go across the border to take advantage of the sales...)

And now I'm going to finally enjoy a few minutes to look around at other blips which I have missed! I'm sure Tatum will be happy to get back to her wifi so she can do the same!
