Antique Transportation
We went to the local fairgrounds to see an exhibit of antique gas motors. They're almost entirely motors off of the old Maytag gas Washing Machines. They are distinctive due to the large fly-wheel on the side and are commonly called, "Hit and Miss Motors" because the spark plug does not fire nearly as often as in modern gas engines. The modern ear keeps thinking, "This motor's gonna stall." but that's just the way they run.
It's a shame that Blip offers no sound because the cadence of these motors is something that seems to resonate in the soul. It was great fun to talk to the people who love their hobby and are so patient with those of us that have only come to gawlk.
