Teach Us To Number Our Days

Today I took a trip up the clock tower of the Manchester Town Hall. "Teach Us To Number Our Days" is the inscription on three of the clock tower's four faces. The town hall is a wonderful example of 13th century, gothic style architecture. It is the most impressive building I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

The clock tower tour was so interesting. The great bell, Abel, weighs 8 tons and I was stood next to it as it chimed three times at 3pm....my ears are still ringing! It is quite a climb up the stone, spiral staircase but the view from the top is worth it. It was a grey day but that's fine for Manchester!
