tete a tete
Ferocious gales last night but this morning was bright and beautiful so we hitched up the trailer and headed off to Reenmore to collect a bit of seaweed. There was masses, all good stuff which will make the garden grow nicely! We also collect four buoys and a kayak which had been washed ashore from somewhere -it was a bit water-logged but otherwise sound, That got added to the trailer too. A very profitable bit of beach-combing.
The we went to watch the cheval ride come in. A cavalcade of horses had left Durrus an hour earlier and were heading for Arudnels pub for a quick refreshment break before heading back again. It was a charity event as well as an opportunity to show off. I was very impressed - there were about 50 horses of all shapes and sizes and quality - the first in were the hunters arriving at quite a pace, followed by the the children, a mixed bunch from immaculately turned out pony clubs types to the more free range; then the heavy horse brigade rolled in including a couple of shires; and taking up the rear were the sulkies (buggies not a temperament type). There was a great atmosphere washed down with the odd pint of the black stuff, sunny weather, free soup and sandwiches and amazing views, plus the rather nice smell of sweaty horse! This little chap and his shetland look straight out of Thelwell - they were having a serious conversation.
