With fellow blippers starting to talk about buying presents and getting ready for Christmas, what is it all about anyway?

I am not a 'Bah Humbug' as I get into the festive spirit with everyone else, but is it just getting bigger and bigger, earlier and earlier and are we just getting caught up in it too much now?
