Through The Autism Lens

Dentist

Today, me and Kipper were very brave. We went to the Dentist and I had to have a tooth capped. The Therapist lady we saw was ever so nice. She put Kipper in the chair first and showed me on him what she was going to do to me. She showed me all the equipment she was going to use to do the job and then it was my turn.

I tried my very best to be brave, and Mom says I was. I bit the poor ladies fingers twice throughout the procedure she did. But it's all done now and wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have been to the Dentist a few times before, but this is a new one. This one specializes in Special Needs and there is a Therapist on hand to work closely with people and children with Special Needs to help them feel more calm and comfortable (and less scared) when they have to have work done on their teeth. I liked her, she was nice.

I have to go back and have two more done before they get any worse and I end up having to have them taken out. I'm still a little nervous, but at least now I know what to expect next time I go.

Kipper was very brave too.
