Rock Daisy

Botanical name: Pachystegia insignis
Common names: Marlborough Daisy or Rock Daisy

An unusual plant and very slow moving, I have been watching this plant over the last two months. The bud has grown but still not ready to burst, the leaves started out covered in very fine light brown hairs which are now making way for glossy green leaves. Its generally found on lowland to subalpine cliffs and rocky places and is prolific round the Marlbourgh and Nelson regions of the South Island of New Zealand. A dense spreading shrub with leaves dark green, leathery, white and downy underneath. The flower is large, daisy-like. It is classed as a Endemic genus.

A quiet day for me  sorting through photo's of last nights Christmas in the Park - what a great event, a free outdoor concert with proceeds going to NZ Surf Lifesaving. I've backblipped for yesterday if your interested in having a peek, Daughter E and her team did an awesome job with their dance - Well done!!

Our weekend has nearly come to an end and a new week is looming with summer and Christmas not far away - Have a great week everyone :)
