Eyes at the window
The little children are very playful in Belo and walk around unaccompanied by an adult most of the time. They laugh and giggle at us trying to talk Kom to them and shout "Hellooooo" as soon as they see us. If you ask them to dance, they will instantly. And they love the camera. They pose and then rush to see the photo. They laugh and giggle and shout when they see themselves on the screen. The trouble is, they are so keen to see themselves that sometimes they are running towards you grinning before you have had time to take their picture!
They often come to the volunteer house to play with the 'white men' although their luck is not in if Roberto is in as he doesn't have too much time for them. Tonight I was sat in Roberto's room typing an email on his laptop when I heard a little "Hello" from nowhere. I turned to the window and saw a small pair of eyes peering at me through the curtains. I said hello back and asked him how he was. He was fine. He must have stayed there for 10 minutes or more just watching me. It's strange to be so fascinating.
