Crocus laevigatus - ex var 'Fontenayi'
No apologies for showing yet another form of Crocus laeviagatus. This seedling raised from plants known as var Fontenayi is just coming into flower. The parent is a very finely feathered form which is usually the last to flower here. If the weather stays cool I may yet have a crocus in flower on Christmas Day.
I just love the subtle variations in these different crocus. This one has so many colours woven into it's tiny flowers, even a touch of gold at the tip or each outer petal. It's got the X-factor for me - guess what the girls have on TV right now :-)
