Who knew?

Lincoln City 3 Ebbsfleet 0

Brilliant news today: we won. Convincingly.

As y'all might know I am a massive Imps fan and have followed them for 26 of my 33 years on the planet. I've laughed, cried, cheered and vowed never to go again. I always do.

Three or so weeks ago we played Alfreton at home in the FA Cup and for the first time in 14 years I opted not to go to the game. I felt disillusioned at the six years of negativity and backwards steps. I felt the board had no clue, the new manager wasn't up to the job and frankly I felt like my love affair with the club had died. Looking back it makes my blood run cold at such a lack of faith.

Today a big win has put me back on course. For the first Saturday in a year (no joke) I've come home having seen my team score plenty and concede none. However that isn't the comfort (as good as it is). The comfort for me was seeing a defence that could defend, a midfield that battled for everything and a forward line not afraid to take a shot. In the last few weeks something changed, and my Lincoln City mojo has slapped me in the face and reminded me not to neglect it again. This club is MY club, and finally I feel proud of the boys efforts. In honesty this caps off a fantastic week for me.

In other news ZnK are cooking a belated birthday meal for me tonight before we settle down to a nice (and cheap) Saturday evening of drinks and games. My only regret is that Fe isn't able to join us as she and the girls (scotchlass and missymoo) are living it up in London.

"If I had the wings of a sparrow,
and I had the arse of a crow,
I'd fly over Ebbsfleet tomorrow
and shit on the bastards below, below....."

* Ebbsfleet isn't actually a real place. The team are from Gravesend, and they merged with Northfleet a few years ago to create Ebbsfleet. Therefore with them being based in Gravesend, if I were a sparrow and I did shit on the people below then I suspect it would actually improve the area.
