Hike to Jakmel!

Friday was a Haitian holiday, and potentially my last long weekend in Haiti- I finally mustered up the courage to do the famous 2-day hike to Jakmel (through Seguen).

Hiking highlights-
- Unsuccessfully reasoning with the driver to drop us off as close to the beginning of the hike as possible but having to walk an extra 1.5 hours to get to the start.
- giving our bags away to a friendly couple on a quad bike who were heading to the same lodge, only to realize that we forgot to take out our lunch!
- making up for extra time by paying a moto driver to take us a bit up (another adventure considering the steep/rocky terrain)
- catching up with the couple and getting our lunch back!
-enjoying a picnic over gorgeous landscape-- with the occasional interruption to argue with Haitians asking for money and food
-3 more hours of hiking seeing some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen!
