What's the time?
One o'Clock, of course.
I'm rarely in Princes St at this particular moment, so thought I'd try and catch the moment the gun went off. The noise made me jump, but managed to get this.
Many years ago, when I was in a student flat, a Belfast girls told how nobody had warned her about the gun and that the first time she was in Princes St at 1pm, she threw herself to the ground.
Similarly, my mother has memories from when she was living in
Blackpool during WWII, of Polish refugee children crying and screaming when small planes went overhead.
Neither story apocraphyl, and situations like them no doubt being repeated in many parts of the world.
