The dark before the light

C had his leaving do at work this evening, his last words to me this morning were "it won't be a late night". It is 3.15am and he just sent me a text to say he is on his way home!

What am I doing awake at such a ridiculous hour, I hear you ask? Who knows, but it looks like everyone else is asleep!
