My City: Day 405: Postcard

The St. Charles Tower..all that remains of the gay bar the St. Charles Tavern...."It's the clock tower that used to be the beacon above the St. Charles Tavern, Toronto's best-known gay bar from the 1950s into the 1980s.

But the clock tower's historic significance goes much further back than the St. Charles.

The clock tower belongs to Toronto Fire Hall No. 3, built in 1870.

It's one of three original, still-existing fire hall towers..." from Toronto Landmarks

Interestingly enough the Courtyard Marriot Hotel is owned by Mormons and it sits on the edge of the gay village...ahh the juxtaposition of it all:-)

A great warm weekend ahead and while I love this aspect of global warming I should be concerned:-)
