The Station

I can quite enjoy travelling by train. Maybe I watched The Railway Children too many times as a child, but rocking through town and country on a train can be a great way to get lost in the surroundings.

Railway stations though, are miserable places. Here is where the delays are incurred, the long, cold wait shuffling from foot to foot on open, windy platforms watching the time of arrival click back and back as you wait to get started. The bustle of finding the right platform, the right train and the rush to (hopefully) get a seat.

There is definitely something to be said for the joy of the journey being greater than the destination.
