Ait Benhaddou
This is the 16th century Kasbah Ait Benhaddou - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the backdrop of many motion picture. It's no surprise that makers of films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and the Jewel of the Nile chose this place as their setting - every step you take towards this place takes you a little way back in time.
Some families still live inside the walls of the ancient city, in narrow orange towers that glow in the sunshine. It's stunning any time of day, but the sunset is the best lighting engineer of all . . .
