Mangroves
These are cement stakes being pounded into the ground in the mangroves. But these mangroves are part of a protected area - so no one should be pounding ANY stakes into the ground there. So today a little group of us went to protest the construction.
In years past, this mangrove stand was a fruitful source of crab, fish, snails, and other delectable things to eat. Now it is mostly dried up and void of such animal life. Because of overexploitation? Because of contamination? Because of drought and misuse of water? Because of construction projects that cut through the vegetation? The reasons are innumerable and diverse.
Hopefully the community will rally to keep this little natural jewel in tact.
