Sulphur Tuft

... At least I think so. Been out walking again with friends today, a brilliant walk with spectacular views across part of the Dark Peak and including an iron or bronze age fort, and amazing views of tors and gritstone edges which we have in great abundance around here. We finished our day out with a nice pub lunch. As it should be. On the lead-up to the main walk there was an area with lots of fungi, but it was too fresh to expect my friends to hang around whilst I looked more closely at them or fiddled around with my camera settings, so it was a few quick snaps, of which this is the one I likes the best. As these are so young, it wasn't possible to see the spore colour, and there are a few similar species which grow in great abundance like this but telling them apart requires greater scrutiny than I had opportunity for. I'm hoping for continuing mild weather and good light to be able to have at least one more fungus photography outing before the winter takes hold.
