Ringneck Doves
The two adjacent feed and seed stores on Railroad Avenue in downtown Bellingham help preserve the small-town character of the city, and are a reminder of the importance of agriculture in Whatcom County's economy -- not that C and I need to be reminded.
The last time C walked by the feed stores she saw a chicken perched on the back of a goat in the display cage. I've gone there several times since, hoping for a repeat performance, but with no success. When I went with Miss Annie today, the most exotic sight I saw was these Ringneck Doves. It's quite a stretch to call them exotic -- they are easily the most commonly kept dove in captivity, according to Dovepage.
If you can't read the sign in large view, take a look at it in Flickr.
P.S.
Miss Annie thought the birds were boring -- she much prefers sheep.
