Ashelawn Highlands
The colors are popping out in so many hues in shades driving west towards the Blue Ridge today with Jenn. It is foggy and slightly wet, brooding and mysterious. Still, we didn't let it dampen our day...
We visited the beautiful old grounds of Ashelawn, the colonial home of President James Monroe. Meandered in the tall english boxwood hedges and poked in the chicken coops. We sampled wines nearby at Jefferson Vineyards and told old jokes. And we sipped more wine and sampled tasty food at some of the local bodegas in Charlottesville. Wandering the streets under the starry November skies.
Just getting another road trip in with Jenn like we used to do skipping school growing up. It's nice to get away again, all grown up...
