Mount Earnslaw
Mount Earnslaw (Maori name of Pikirakatahi) is a mountan which can be viewed from Glenorchy - a small settlement which is an hours drivewaway from Queenstown that sits at the top of Lake Wakatipu.
Glenorchy is just jaw-dropping with steep mountains on either side of the two valleys that break off from here and form part of the Great Walks in New Zealand. This area featured heavily in the Lord of the Rings films and will be used in the up-coming Hobbit film and as you walk around you recognise various scenes that were shot here. (To be fair you can see that about most of the landscape and areas in New Zealand).
The village is also home to some amazing cafes and a possum clothing workshop! However on this partiuclar visit I was in and out of Glenorchy before any of them were open. Maybe next time....
