Artichokes

These are the first of the season's Jerusalem artichokes. D dug up the huge plant that was flourishing in the open compost heap; we haven't even started on those we actually planted. I've put some of them in a casserole - they're quite delicious, but do have quite powerful carminative properties. :-)

Must remember not to put the trimmings into the compost bucket....
