Emergency blip or maybe a warning?

This rather interesting piece of wood is the top of my jewellery box. The craftsman that I bought it from explained that the tree from which it came had been invaded by some sort of fungus which slowly destroyed the centre. (If the tree was not cut down in time it would become like balsa wood, he said)
This obviously creates some amazing results which i like a lot.

The warning side of this is something I heard on the radio a few days ago. Chrismas trees may be scarce or expensive because some have beeen invaded by a fungus. If you don't want a christmas tree with a balsa wood centre perhaps you ought to act now. You heard it on Blip first!
