Poppy Head

A very gloomy day. No mountains, just clouds and occasional spits.

For those of you who are interested in the insects I am finding on the angelica flowers, today I shot what I think is a black soldier fly. It was about the same size as the green one, but its legs were spread wider. What was fascinating about it was a structure attached to the back of the thorax consisting of a semicircle of spikes.
