Feijoa
Love a good feijoa . So we've planted 4 different varieties to keep us going in the autumn. This is the apollo. Some of you northerners wont know these fruit which originate in south america, but apparently NZ is one of the few places they are common. There is a bit of an export market but I've heard it's more for the novelty factor than serious food supply. Unusual in that they are not insect pollinated, so we'll still be eating these if the bee problems turn out as some are predicting!! - None of that alarmist nonsense you say! But it is unusual that they are pollinated by birds.
