Them's the breaks
Round two of broken arm for the year, and the Eldest has done it a doozy this time. Earlier in the year, she had a scooter accident that ended with a fractured ulna, just high enough to need an above elbow cast. Today, at school, during an organised game, there was a huge collision with another student. That other student has earned the "You should have seen the other guy..." stripes.
The Eldest and I spent the afternoon at the hospital, complete with her rainbow shaped forearm. We didn't really have any wait. Before the X ray, a nurse said, "Oh, we call them Dinner Fork fractures". X rays just confirmed that she's fractured the ulna and radius.
She was put under with Ketamine, and then the doctors did the very brutal manipulation (noisy as well as grim looking) to get her arm straight. My brave darling didn't fuss at all. We had a lot of comments about how brave she is. I can tell you I WOULD have been making a huge drama out of it all.
Poor kid, and not long til summer...she's a total water baby, so that's just not great at all.
