NZ Cabbage Tree Flower

NZ Cabbage Tree or Ti kouka

In spring and early summer our NZ Cabbage Tree produces large dense flower spikes up to 1 metre (3 feet) long. Each spike bears 5,000 to 10,000 sweetly perfumed white flowers and may produce up to 40,000 seeds. The fruit is a white berry which is eaten by birds and the nectar attracts great numbers of insects to the flowers. The flower spikes stand out beautifully against a pure blue sky.

Christmas shopping today with Mum - mainly for our overseas family and friends as postage will be closing soon. We ambled along and enjoyed our day, the mall was quiet which suited me fine - guess I'll be wrapping tonight.

Great day weather wise after yesterdays horrid day, today was warm, bright, little wind and a lovely blue sky but the rivers are up and flooded and looking very dirty.

That's about it from me for today, chow mein for tea tonight which Hubby is taking care of. Hope your all having a great week :)
