Are these really edible?

Each summer, these tiny little strawberry-like berries arise among the grass in our yard. James thinks they are strawberries and are edible. And although I do not distinctly remember anything like this in my toxicology class, I am very wary of eating anything which I have not definitively identified and researched. Besides, this was a veterinary toxicology class - not human. Yes, I know I am paranoid & I like it that way.

If anyone could help us identify these, your help would be immensely appreciated.
