HMS Illustrious
Went down the seafront for a wee wander as it was such a lovely day. The initial reason was to have a look at a Christmas Craft Market at Southsea Castle. None of us thought a lot of it, so we had a bite to eat, and were soon joined by some elves from the nearby Santa's Grotto. I would have blipped these, but their lunch came too quick for me to get a decent shot. Afterwards, we had a wander round the castle, and then down to the front for an ice-cream. Oliver then headed down onto the beach to practice his stone flinging, which improved with every shot.
All too soon, the temperature was dropping, and Megans sleep was disturbed by a passing dog. So, we started to wander back towards the car - when I spotted this fine sight on her way out to sea. This is the last remaining aircraft carrier - a victim of recent government cuts. One carrier is in bits on a beach in Turkey, and the other one is languishing in Portsmouth Dockyard awaiting her fate. So, this was indeed, a rare sight to see - especially on a Sunday afternoon.
All in all, a lovely afternoon... Even Oliver enjoyed the walk...?! Well, its all good training for the Santa Fun Walk/Run in a few weeks time!
