It's over. The sanding is done. I'm sure it won't be the last time I need a dust mask or knee protectors in this house, but for me, for now, the sanding is over. More sweeping, mopping and varnishing tomorrow, along with a few fights with France Telecom (who seem to have signed me up for two new contracts) and the continuing nervous wait for our electrical system to be signed off. No-one is willing to call the person who has to do the signing off, who seems to be such a power that he (or it, it may be an office full of people for all I know) can sit on our certificate for a year if they like and there's nothing we can do about it. Without the certificate, ERDF won't come near the place.

Happily, it is still sunny and the weather is reasonably warm. But I fear that in (eek) 10 days we will all be huddling in one bedroom around the one radiator that will work from our building site power supply.
