Baby Wrens
After a day of tooing and froing in honour of our Dads we eventually sat in the garden at quite lateish 0'clock, me to polish off a bottle of ale, her to trickle some water on the plants. Within minutes we clocked a wren hoppityflying to just underneath the garden bench, to be greeted with the excited shrilling of iccle hungry beaks.
It's just over a year since we last had chicks in the garden, so we were nicely pleased to see and hear the little fellows. There are 4 of em, all scareyhuddled into a corner they must have been born near, slightly behind a piece of slate under a cover of clematis stems. And every one of them is cuter than a button.
[pic isn't much cop I know: Camera was pre-set all wrong when I took it (inc the flash left on doh) but I left it at that because we didn't really want to disturb them too much seeing as the parents were doing such an ace job of looking after them. Think the flash left them temporarily blinded too, poor blighters.]
EDIT: Found all 4 icclebabywrenbirds dead 2 days later, all huddled in the very same corner:-(
