Narcissus bulbocodium x cantabricus

Fog cleared briefly, set out to capture a decent picture of this Narcissus. Unseen until on the computer screen, in the sequence of five shots a spider travels from behind the corona to eventually sit on the anthers in the middle of the flower. Here he is on his journey.

The little narcissus (hoop of corona 2cm across) is a home raised seedling from a yellow, winter flowering form of the hoop-petticoat narcissus, Narcissus bulbocodium. It appears to have hybridised with the white flowered Narcissus cantabricus resulting in this pretty, pale creamy yellow flower.

I grow a range of winter flowering narcissus in a cold frame where their delicate flowers are protected from the worst of the winter weather.
