Wedding Weekend II : Wedding Day

The day of the wedding started in leisurely fashion, especially for those of us who had imbibed rather well the night before. After a late breakfast in the communal kitchen (rather too communal in some respects as we discovered someone had felt peckish in the night and opened up our packet of crackers - who does that?) I went for a short walk down to the loch side to take a few pictures. A rather grey day, but still rather atmospheric looking out across the water. Then back for a bit to eat before getting ready for the wedding itself. The ceremony was held in the main hall - with more guests than the hall could seat, some of us were directed up to the balcony where we looked down on the brief ceremony. Then we all went down to the dining room for a glass or two of fizz to toast the happy couple. A pleasant time chatting with other guests and then we were called into the main dining room for the wedding meal. Tables were named for sci-fi and fantasy connections - we were on Magrathea, home of the luxury planet-makers who made the Earth in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A nice meal, with some good speeches and after a short time to rearrange to room, some excellent ceilidh dancing. Enjoyed a good few dances and then stayed on the floor for a bit of disco to G's iPod selection of floor-fillers. 'Nothing to do with us', the band were at pains to point out, as we danced to an eclectic mix.
