A time for everything

Proud father and son!

Sunday
I apologise for the similarity of subject matter between yesterday and today, but from the point of view of a daily journal, there can't be anything more significant in a day, than one's son graduating college or commissioning as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. Unfortunately our older daughter and her husband weren't able to stay for todays ceremony as they had a wedding to attend back in Columbus, but our younger daughter was with us.

Once that was over, it was back home to finish ironing and start packing for our trip to England on Tuesday to see our families. Philip, unfortunately won't be coming with us, as he has to report to Randolph Air Force base, San Antonio, Texas on June 27. Originally, he was to have started in December, and so he was coming with us, but his orders changed only about three or four weeks ago.

As the afternoon and evening have progressed, I've found myself getting quite low - I guess its finally hit home that he's going to be half way across the country, 1200 miles away, for about 18 months, and after that who knows where. I know for many this happens when their son or daughter goes to college, but we've been lucky having both him and his older sister stay in state for college, and I hadnt realised how hard it was going to be.

I'm afraid Father's Day took a bit of a back seat, so Happy Father's Day, Roger!
