Debs in the dark

Rhododendron Festival debutante ball. Ultimately a monumental piss-up, but everybody goes to a lot of trouble and the girls and their escorts look quite impressive, at least in the early part of the night.
Trisharooni is official debutante photographer, but I went along to watch the fun (intending to photograph her photographing them, but she's not in this shot). As she points out, it all should have started an hour earlier, because the light was failing fast during most of the shoot, so she only had time to do the formal shots. I, however, could do what I liked and managed a few less formal ones. This is probably the most interesting of a fairly ordinary bunch.
