BEB ~ That's Life!

I learned a valuable lesson today. If I'm going to combine blipping with a social life, I'm going to have to be far more organised!!!

Apologies for the late blip. Apologies for the absolutely crap blip. I did take a quick wander round EP before I left work tonight but they were even worse to be honest!

This is a definite "filler" blip taken not to spoil my unbroken chain, taken just a short 4 minutes before the witching hour. Close. Too close!

So this is a wee trip down memory lane for the oldies among us.

Long before 24 hour, cable, satellite television. In fact back in the days when there were only three channels our Sunday evenings were enlightened with That's Life!

Presented by Esther Rantzen, the program was really a combination of Watchdog and The One Show, mixing consumer issues with nonsense prattle. The latter was the purview of the bespectacled, lightly cross eyed Cyril Fletcher, who in his smoking jacket or evening suit regaled us with humorous anecdotes.

Who could forget the speaking dog - "sausages!" - or pictures of the TO LET sign with an inked in I. This pic would have been right down Cyril's street, his dulcet tones explaining how "Mr. Sleepyhead noticed this unusual sign attached to the railings of a building in Edinburgh!", his face contorting into a slightly bemused prune as the camera cut from him back to a smiling Esther, whose disproportionate teeth were blinding everything in sight!!!

Hahaha, those were the days!
