The Purple Gallinule
The flamboyantly coloured cousin of the common moorhen; these are fairly uncommon in our part of Florida, or anywhere much other than the southern shores of the country. I stopped by an area of rushes and lily pads, the only place where I had seen them before, and there they were, a pair no less. I did get some pictures of them walking on the pads, but when this one hid under a bridge, I found the lovely colours easier to expose for, and also, the picture shows his amazing, walk on water feet.
