back-blipped
My friends Cameron and Charlotte came round for lunch today and then it was time for Amelie and I to head to the airport. My Gran chummed us in (Amelie's first proper trip on the bus!) to meet my Mum and Dad after work who had the buggy and the suitcase in the car, and then all of us went to the airport. Our journey went a bit like this
- Arrive at the airport after struggling to keep an Amelie, who had no nap, awake in the car
- Attempt to check in only to be told we were 30 mins early for check in and would have to wait
- Mum, Dad and Gran say goodbye to us and we sit and watch for the desk opening
- Told at check in that we have to check the buggy into the hold as there are no lifts at the gates and they aren't responsible for carrying the buggy down the stairs. I could get another passenger to do it they say, but imagine I couldn't?! I'd be stuck!
- Amelie cries when I check in the buggy
- I now have to carry Amelie through security (where I have to take my boots off, I forgot that was a rule...) and for another two hours whilst we wait for our gate number along with my heavy bag and her little rucksack
- Arrive at the gate and people queueing up already to get on
- Amelie has a tantrum because a)she's tired and b)I won't let her stand at the window looking at the plane
- We board and I change Amelie into her pyjamas
- She falls asleep and we take off
- Flight is uneventful and easy as she sleeps the whole way
- We land and Amelie is forced to wake up as I struggle with bags and jackets and blankets and her and we have to get onto a bus to go back to the terminal
- We get off the bus and I struggle carrying everything as we walk the longest distance to the baggage hall
- We make it to the baggage hall and I wait for ages for the suitcase, get it and then wait ages for the buggy
- A man eventually points out that the buggy is standing unfolded, behind a pillar. One of the workers must have unloaded it and put it up for me but didn't think to look for anyone with a small child who might be standing waiting for it?!
- Buggy is filthy and scratched from being in the hold
- We walk out expecting Chris to be there, Amelie shouting Daddy Daddy
- Daddy is 40 mins late as he had a job on...
